Hey Reader,

I still remember the first $500 I invested.

I was terrified I was going to lose it all.

I had worked over 30 hours to earn that $500, and my hands were literally shaking as I made that first investment.

But that decision changed everything.

You see, a couple of wise financial mentors had shared something profound with me:

No one ever creates wealth through addition (saving) but by multiplying (investing)

At the time, those words felt more like a theory than a reality.

But then something crazy happened…

About a year later, I got this statement in the mail showing that my investment had earned $97 over just three months…

$97 - without working a single hour.

$97 - while I was sleeping.

$97 - representing 7 hours of my life I got back.

My money was finally working for me instead of me working for it.

Fast forward to a moment a few months back (15+ years later), and one of our investments (Tesla) had such a big day that we made more than I would have earned working 1,032 hours at my first job…

But here’s what really matters…

I don’t invest just to make money.

I invest:

  • to get my money working for me.
  • to buy back my time.
  • to multiply what God has entrusted to me.
  • to funnel as much money as possible into God’s Kingdom.

And looking back, I’m so grateful I pushed through those initial fears.

That trembling $500 investment wasn’t just about money - it was about taking the first step toward true financial stewardship.

The best time to plant a tree…

Remember this: the best time to plant a tree was 20 years ago, but the second-best time is today.

And just like those mighty oaks that take decades to reach their full potential, your financial journey compounds with time.

Whether you’re planting your first $500 seed or tending to an established grove, keep nurturing it.

Keep learning.

Keep growing.

Because the fruit of patience and persistence in your financial life will always be sweeter than the quick harvest.

Your friend and coach,

-Bob

Hey Reader, Sometimes following God feels like failing. And a few years ago, we felt that way with our book, Simple Money, Rich Life. BUT GOD. I thought the story was over, but God didn't. In today's episode, we share the behind-the-scenes details of what has happened with this book and many things we've never shared publicly before. If you have obeyed God and it felt like a failure, I pray this encourages you... And if you have the book or plan on getting it, I think you'll enjoy the...

Hey Reader, (Start by reading: Nehemiah 1:4-11 and 2:1-8) I’ve noticed a weird tension in my own life: I’ll pray hard about a situation, then feel a little guilty for also wanting a plan. As if the truly spiritual move is to pray and wait, and pulling out a spreadsheet means I don’t actually trust God to come through. Nehemiah would find that strange. When he heard Jerusalem’s walls were rubble and her gates burned, he sat down and wept. He fasted, and then he prayed one of the most beautiful...

Hey Reader, Praying over my finances has done more for me than budgeting ever has... and I don’t say that lightly. I love the practical stuff: Budgets, spreadsheets, tools, apps, plans, investment strategies. All of that matters. But as much as I believe in practical financial steps... I believe prayer will do more for your finances than any spreadsheet, app, or tool every could. If you’re all in on that idea, I actually wrote a 30-day financial prayer book that I think you'll love. But if...
