Hey Reader, For years, I tried to “help” God change my finances. I would try every method, technique, app, spreadsheet, or ‘wise’ worldly advice I could find… And I would wonder why He wasn’t blessing my efforts more. You might be in a similar situation where it’s hard to understand why God seems so distant from all your hard work. If that’s you, this weird story from 2 Samuel could really change your perspective (I know it did for me)… God killed a man for trying to help 🤯His name was Uzzah, and when you understand why God did this, it will change how you approach everything in your life - especially your finances. Here’s what happened:King David was moving the Ark of the Covenant back to Jerusalem. The oxen pulling the cart stumbled, and the Ark was about to fall. So Uzzah reached out to steady it. Makes perfect sense, right? He was just trying to help. But the moment Uzzah touched the Ark, God struck him dead. David was furious. He couldn’t understand why God would kill someone for trying to help. But David was missing something crucial…God had given very specific instructions on how to move the Ark. It wasn’t supposed to be on a cart at all. It was supposed to be carried on the shoulders of the Levites, using poles. And NEVER touched directly. Instead, they copied how the Philistines moved it. They copied the world’s method instead of following God’s method.Uzzah’s heart was right, but his approach was wrong. Later, David figured it out. He said, “The Lord broke out against us because we did not seek Him according to the rule.” But here’s the lesson that changed everything for me: God doesn’t need our help. He needs our obedience. When we try to “help” God with our own wisdom instead of following His ways, we’re not actually helping. We’re taking over. God cannot be managed or assisted by human strength. He sets the terms for how we approach Him.And this doesn’t just apply to moving the Ark. It applies to your finances, your career, your relationships - everything. I spent years trying to “help” God with my money using the world’s methods.Budgeting apps, investment strategies, side hustles. But I was using Philistine methods instead of God’s methods. The breakthrough came when I stopped trying to manage God and started obeying God. When I followed His specific instructions for handling money, everything changed, and we paid off over $400,000 in debt and started giving more than we thought possible. And I have seen this time and time again with our students as well. Good intentions with wrong methods can be deadly to your financial future. Because God’s ways aren’t just different - they’re the only ways that actually work. If you’ve been trying to “help” God with your finances using the world’s methods, it’s time to follow His methods instead. Take 30 seconds to ask God what ways you've been trying to help. What ways does He want to show you instead? Your friend and coach, Bob P.S. if you need help growing in this area, you are in the right place! Hey Reader, can I break a common myth? The secret to financial success is rarely about earning more. Here's a mind-blowing truth: Every year, professional athletes go bankrupt while janitors quietly build million-dollar portfolios. In fact, 78% of NFL players go broke within two years of retirement. Often, the issue isn't how much water you pour in (income) but how many holes your bucket has (spending). Take Mike Tyson - he earned over $400 million but still ended up in $23 Million of debt....
Hey Reader, here is your thought for the day... Leave a comment about this on Instagram or follow us here. Praying for you today Reader! Your friend and coach,
2 years into my marriage, I got laid off. Living in a tiny apartment with my new wife (and a pink slip) was scary. As I felt God calling me down the entrepreneurial path, one of the scariest things was losing my health insurance from my employer. Our insurance wasn’t great, and we still had to pay a good amount out of pocket, but I was just so nervous about trying to pay for it all ourselves as self-employed entrepreneurs. I had heard about this health insurance alternative called Medi-Share...
